Swedish comes second.

Now the rooms of the house are no longer just work spaces. They resemble civilized rooms with mats and furniture and a some ornaments. We have all the cornices, skirtings and corner studs (whatever it´s called) in place. We still need to put some slats to cover gaps where some of the wall boards do not really meet between the shed part and the main room.

We moved the furniture in place as we had planned from the start so now we have a tv-corner and a dining part. The stove is no longer in the livingroom/main building. The kitchen is now a kitchen with all the food and utensils, cups, saucers, pots and food. The counter top is not finished yet but in place. We are still adjusting the shelves and moving around the cups and pans but it seems to be suiting us just fine. The sink is in place. It is still the same one we found under the house. It´s big and deep.

Our bedroom got the smaller living room shelves for clothes and that made the room seem bigger.

The second bedroom now has all the grey furniture. We will have books in one book case and the other will be for clothes. We left space for hanging clothes in between them.

What´s left? New door at the back, curtains, moving the toilet inside, fixing up the shed so it will be toilet, toolroom and storage. A door will be needed to that room too. We have changed plans for the shower and now we are thinking to put it outside the master bedroom on the ground. An easy way out for dampness and the gas shower contraption. After that we need a better wood shed and and and…

We still have chilly mornings and some chilly eve´s but they are not too cold any longer. Soon we will have warmer days and maybe a dip in the creek again.

 

The Wisteria is blooming and so are the citruses and the macadamias. The poor trees, amongst them the Mulberries, that we pruned are sprouting leaves. Phew!

 

Our composts are thriving. No. 1 is now layered in grass, cowpoo and ashes. We sorted out all big wood, crap like iron bits and other stuff that do not belong in a compost but ended up there in the beginning. Now it will be left alone for a while. No 2 and 3 are still being filled from parts of the property that are being cleared but no bits that are not nature like dug up bits of iron, clothes and such, and no 4 will only get the fine stuff mixed without any clearing debris and layered like no 1.

We compost everything that can be composted. We have tried meat leftovers and it works well. We have not notice any rats or snakes in them but must keep a close eye. Not that we have a lot of meat to throw anyway. No waste haha.

to get an allround compost we sometimes take a bucket with us and gather cowpoo from the road to mix in.

 

We have had to take it easy a couple of days since our hands and Mick´s hip are acting up but it´s hard to keep one´s hands off working.

 

We rented a garden tiller and tilled the part where we shall put the BBQ. So grass is growing on that, now flat, part and the BBQ will be built up again. Just loose bricks and a piece of flat iron we found under the house.

 

Yup the house and garden are coming along nice and easy.

Nu är rummen i huset är inte längre bara arbetarutrymmen. De är civiliserade rum med mattor och möbler och en del prydnader. Vi har alla kornischer, golvsocklar och hörn lister (vad det kallas) på plats. Vi behöver fortfarande ställa några lister för att täcka luckor där några av de väggskivorna har glipor mellan skjuldelen och i storarummet.

Vi flyttade möblerna på plats som vi hade planerat från början så nu har vi en tv-hörna och en matsalsdel. Kaminen är inte längre i vardagsrummet / huvudbyggnaden. Köket är nu ett kök med all mat och köksredskap, koppar, fat, kastruller och kylskåp och spis. Arbetsbänken är inte färdig ännu men på plats. Vi lär fortfarande justera hyllorna och flytta runt grejorna och kokkärl men det verkar vara passar oss bara fint att ha allt löst på hyllor utan dörrar. Diskhon är på plats. Det är fortfarande den samma som vi hittade under huset. Det är stort och djupt.

Vårt sovrum fick de låga Bondehyllorna för kläder och det gjorde att rummet känns något större.

Det andra sovrummet har nu alla grå möbler. Vi kommer att ha böcker i en bokhylla och den andra kommer att vara för kläder. Vi lämnade utrymme för hängande kläder mellan dem.

Vad är kvar? Ny dörr baktill, gardiner, flytta toaletten inomhus. Skjulet blir toalett, verktygsrum och lagring. En dörr kommer att behövas till det rummet också. Vi har ändrat planerna för duschen och nu tänker vi arrangera den utanför sovrummet på marken. Ett enkelt sätt ut för fukt och gasduschmanicken. Efter det behöver vi en bättre vedbod och och och …

Vi har fortfarande kyliga morgnar och några kyliga kvällar men de är inte jättekallt längre. Snart kommer vi att ha varmare dagar och kanske ett dopp i bäcken igen.

 

Wisterian blommar och så också citrus och macadamias. De stackars träden som vi beskar, bland dem Mulbären har börjat få blad. Hurra!

 

Våra komposter funkar fint. Nr 1 är nu i lager av gräs, kokacka och aska. Vi sorterade ut alla stora trä, skräp, plast, tygbitar, järnbitar och andra saker som inte hör hemma i en kompost, men hamnade där i början. Nu får den stå och mulla sig. Nr 2 och 3 fyller vi fortfarande från delar av tomten som håller på att rensas men inga bitar som inte är natur som bitar av järn, kläder och sådant, och i 4:an kommer bara att bli fina grejor och inga halvstora kvistar och större rens.

Vi komposterar allt som kan komposteras. Vi har försökt med köttrester och det fungerar bra. Vi har inte märker några råttor eller ormar i dem, men måste hålla ett vakande öga förstås. Inte för att vi har en hel del kött att kasta men ändå.

För att få en välkomponerad kompost tar vi ibland en hink med oss ​​och samlar koblaffor från vägen att blanda in.

 

Vi har varit tvungna att ta det lugnt ett par dagar eftersom våra händer och Mick’s höften agerar upp, men det är svårt att hålla one’s händer utanför arbeta.

 

Vi hyrde en jordfräs och brukade den del där vi ska sätta BBQ. Så gräs växer på det, kommer nu plana del och BBQ byggas upp igen. Bara lösa tegelstenar och en bit platt järn vi finns under huset.

 

Japp huset och trädgården kommer längs trevligt och enkelt.
