This years yule puzzle was given to us last year.

We started on the 1 of Jan and finished 19 days later. We did it now and then with a glass of wine or not. Most often before bedtime .

It had letters on the back. A first for me. So you can divvy it up in small piles according to letter and many letters for the seams. Probably a good thing is this case since it was all gray scale.

The picture on the puzzle and the picture on the paper did not resemble each other much but was mirroredand missing the outer round part. So a bit puzzling – haha.

Anyway:

But something we quickly notices was the patterns in pieces. You can divide the pieces in shapes and then check the patterns. Helped a lot but not always since the puzzle narrows toward the middle.

Beautiful puzzle and a bit of depth actually.

Så får man pyssla lite medan det regnar. What to do when it rains aaaaall the time:

T.ex. ta ut Davidson’s Plum ur frysen, tina och göra sylt. Jag följde inte receptet på nätet för förra gången jag gjorde det blev det en riktigt hård sylt. Davidson’s Plum from freezer, already halved and deseeded. Thaw over night. Dump in pot and run mixer. Sugar about half of the plum stuff. Cook and taste and add more to your liking. Cook about 25 min and try the jelly test now and then. Pour into clean jars. This jam should not be stiff so you can pour it in a cup and make tea if you want. Or on ice cream or bread or anything.

Tina över natten (de är redan urkärnade och halverade). Häll i en kastrull. Mixa med mixerstav till mos. Häll i socker ungefär hälften mot plommonen. Koka upp och smaka av om det behövs mer socker. Det är tillräckligt med naturligt pektin för att man ska skippa citron och kärnor mm. Varför de har i ättika i sylten begriper jag inte alls. Koka en stund tills syltproven funkar. Det tar kanske 20 minuter. Man får kolla då och då. Häll sen på rena burkar.

The recipes on the internet calls for lemon and seeds and vinegar and I cannot figure out why. Enough pectin in the fruit without.

Förhoppningsvis kan jag nu ha sylten också att göra té av och ha lite omväxling i dryckerna.

Ni kan väl använda Google översättning. Men kontentan: Måla vatten, olja, riva allt eller täcka med nya skivor. Vi lutar mot nya skivor / plattor.

We tried making the ceiling look a bit better but it did not work. We teetered between just painting, covering with sheets of wood and just pulling down the whole thing. Pulling it down will be a very big project that has to be done during a time with no rain for at least a couple of weeks so we scrapped that one. We can imagine the wildlife residue left up there.

We don’t know what the ceiling sheets are made of. Most likely asbestos in which case it will be very costly to pull down. So we decide to just paint over it.

Painting did not cut it. It is water based paint so maybe that could be it. The wildlife residue has seeped through over the years. Remembering the house being around 90 years old but the ceilings must have been exchanged at some time…. or maybe not. Asbestos was very popular at the time. Anyway so we are now looking at either trying oilbased paint or just bying new sheets and covering the whole shebang, which looks like the most likely course of action right now.

This will have to wait until the rains cease since we have to bring them home in the open on Atlas driving for a couple of hours. So yeah.

Rättelse från nedan!!! Det var en annan dörr vi fixade och satte dit. Dörren till huvudbyggnaden tog vi och använde. et fanns ingen dörr till “förrådet”.

I köket har vi en gammal dörr mellan förrådet och köket. Vi beslöt att restaurera den och “lackera”. Här är den i skicket när vi köpte utom att vi har hängt en spegel där så att man kan se hur man ser ut när man ska gå ut. Fast vi har sällan tid att kolla och vem bryr sig! Här ute.

Här är baksidan av dörren med gamla gångjärnen som vi behållit. Men graffitin har vi slipat bort. Vi tog kort av dem men inte kul blajskriverier. Hela huset hade massor av klotter. Vi har kort på de flesta men flera väggar med klotter var helt ruttna så måste bort och vidare var det inget trevligt klotter heller.

Här ser man hur sneda och vinda väggarna är. Även här. Ni som följt oss vet ju att köket var öppet för väder och vind och användes mer som veranda än kök av förra ägarna.

Golvet i förrådet har vi lagt själva men köksgolvet är original. Vi har lagt en vinylmatta där vid ingången och lite mattor här och där men tanken är att lägga golvplattor över hela senare. Under tiden är det lite romantiskt med sol genom golvspringorna och man ser ner på marken under huset. Man måste också peta skräp, matrester och annat spill då och då. När vi flyttade in var det lite äckligt.

So far our old Bestå from IKEA which we bought in Sydney fo the TV and music machinery had to make do for a kitchen cabinet. It’s standing on end and one drawer is on top. 

Gamla IKEA Bestå fick utgöra köksskåp ett tag (skåp, haha)

This worked well and we are satisfied so we bought a standing cabinet. Hopefully we can have all the food in here and not in the black boxes.

Det funkade utmärkt så vi köpte oss ett köpeskåp.
